Bicycle Safety Improvement Open House
Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:24AM CITY OF WENATCHEE TO HOST OPEN HOUSE FORFIFTH STREET SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECTThe city of Wenatchee will be holding an open house for the Fifth Street SafetyImprovement Project at the Campus Theater in Wells Hall at Wenatchee ValleyCollege on Wednesday, August 24th from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.Fifth Street is one of Wenatchee’s most significant East-West arterial streetslinking the downtown/waterfront to the college and the residential westernfoothills.The intent of this project is to modify the existing roadway to allow for turn lanes,bicycle lanes, and some median enhancements in the vicinity of the WenatcheeValley College. Other improvements include pavement surface improvements,pedestrian safety including ADA improvements, roadway lighting improvements,and transit improvements.The project is included in the city’s 6-year Transportation Improvement Programand was identified as a transportation safety need due to increasing traffic andconflicting uses.The city was successful in securing 85% of the funding needed for theimprovements through the Washington State Transportation ImprovementBoard’s Urban Arterial Program.City staff will be present to explain project concepts, schedules, and recordcomments and suggestions from the public prior to identifying a preferredalternative for final design.If you are unable to attend, we welcome your comments on the city’s website,facebook page, or by telephone.
